How can I remove the reverse shifter shaft tapered lock pin on a 65 M20 Muncie ?

I read that I should "Use 3/16 inch drift punch and remove reverse shifter shaft tapered lock pin. Note: pin is removed from the bottom. It installs from the top but gets removed by tapping it on the bottom."

Is there any other way to do this ? The pin won't budge.

If it's never been out before, you'll need to use some heat. A propane torch will work fine. Heat it up a bit and give it a tap, a little more heat, another tap. Keep going until it frees up. I just rebuilt my Muncie and was surprised how much heat it took to get it that damn pin out.

Glad to hear it. That little bugger can be hard to get out at times.
