    Garage Floor Cleaning

I cleaned the epoxy floor in my garage today using ammonia and water. While it made it look better I was a bit disappointed. Does anyone have a recommendation or procedure they use? Thanks in advance.

I use Tub O' Towels by hand first on the tough spots (grease, etc.) then mop with a Simple Green solution

I have found that oil leakes that get run over by my tires and left to dry are impossible to remove off of my epoxy floor. Anyone else have the same experience? Otherwise the rest of the floor cleans up very well with Simple Green.

Left rear caliper was leaking on my 65 and i have tread mark impressions in the epoxy. I am going to try full strength ammonia and see if that removes them. Also going to get some Simple Green and give that a try. I appreciate the comments.... Thanks

Tub O Towels work like magic. Use them on chassis and engine compartment components, hands, floor, etc. Top notch product.

            Best,

A bit of Acrysol works great on the tough spots!

For a few years in the mid 80's I worked where they made epoxy. Their floor epoxy was indestructable. I had a out of date can of the A & B floor epoxy that I kept for over 20 years. I bought epoxy to do my shop floor and found that it was epoxy only by name. I had a paper cup of it that I kept so I could confirm the cure. It never cured and what I bought, even though it was 2 part was actually a air dry and could be washed off your hands with water. I brought the cup to the paint store and asked them why the epoxy was wet under the dry part on top and water would clean it off your hands. The stuff I used in the 80's was solvent based and needed acetone to clean it.
So I took the A & B that was over 20 years out of shelf life and had to thin it a bit with acetone so I could test it for use. In about a hour it got real hot and eventually was rock solid. I wanted to take it to the paint store and show them what real epoxy was like but knew it would be a waste of time. I taped of the section where my machines would be and coated the floor in that area.
T The paint store epoxy would damage with any strong solvent like laquer thinner, but the old epoxy in the machine area was un touchable.
SO when I did my garage floor I special ordered the solvent based epoxy @ twice the price of the stuff the sold here in the paint store.
There is a difference and what I bought in the paint store and mixed was not real epoxy and I was the one that mixed the clear in with the pigment, I did the final mix. If they were both in the same can from the start they would not have hardened.
Now almost another 20 years has passed and the paint store epoxy is stained and missing where I spilled paint reducer on it, and the real epoxy looks new.
One more thing I saw was epoxy paint in a rattle can!! Can't be done with the real stuff.

William it was Armor???? Was a two step process using urethane and epoxy coatings. One of my helpers came out of the building higher than a kite on the fumes. His comment was "Good s**t man". He did not have the same feelings the next day when the solvent high wore off, all I heard was "where is the Tylenol"
