    C2 Hardtop

Trying to identify a C2 hardtop.
My old eyes have a tough time with the coding which appears to be as follows:
    Line 1 - Plexiglass
    Line 2 - A8 4
Can't find a reference for hardtop date codes. I am thinking an early '65.
    Can anybody help confirm?
    Thanks

Line 2 is actually AS 4 which is on all of them. The date is determined by two letters of which one will be on the upper right of the stamp and the other on the lower left.

      Thanks Jim
Guess I need to get my magnifying glass and a strong light. When I figure out the marking I'll be back

These images are a huge help. I am thinking now earlier than originally guessed. Got to get my magnifying glass and some good light.
          Thanks so much

Images are a huge help but the markings are very difficult to decipher. Looks like an "63/64 or early '65 but am going to have to magnify to find out for sure. I have a macro lens for a digital camera. Maybe with some good light and this lens I can figure it out. It came with my '67 but I know it isn't right so want to identify it and sell it.

I cleaned the area well and got it in good light. Using a magnifying glass I find to the right of AS 4, below and to the right of the Plexiglass name just the year 64. No month code. Is that feasible?
Thanks for sticking with me on this one. I want to represent it correctly.

                Harvey,

The number for the month on the lower left could be hidden by the weather stripping per the judging manual. Mine on my 67 is just barely above the weather strip. The lower left letter "L" is a very light stamp/embossed it could be an "I" but an L (Dec) fits better with my cars build date which is March 3rd.

Going back to look closer. The 64 stamped below and to the right of the "Plexiglas" is very feint so probably the month is as bad and as you indicate may be hidden or partially hidden. Will let you know. Thx again.

I did not know that 63-64 are stamped differently according to the Plexiglass pdf file noted earlier. Your's should read something like 2-64 ( Feb 64 ) just to the right under the word Plexiglass.

I have looked again with a magnifying glass. There is definitely a 2 digit code below and to the right of Plexiglas and to the right of AS-4. It still appears to be 64. Not 100% sure. I could make it look like G4 or C4 also. Very very feint. If it is actually 64 there is no month code that I can find. What is correct?

Thanks for this reference. It looks like mine with the exception of the month code. which is not visible on my top. I am going to use my wife's high end digital camera with a acro lens to try to get a high resolution closeup after work tomorrow. Maybe that will tell me more.

Since we've apparently narrowed it down to a 64 or 65 top, is the bottom of the top behind the side window straight or is there a notch? 64's had a notch, 65's didn't.

                              Jim,
Per the judging Manual, the notch was thru approximately March of 63. 64's were straight.
Makes me think of a 65 convertible I bought that a previous owner put a 63 hardtop with the notch on and went to all the work of purchasing and installing a correctly dated 65 rear glass.
