    63 shifter question

    Has any installed one of the 63 repro shifter assys, I am worried that like a lot of the reproduction parts there maybe be some quality problems, Does anyone know if this part is made overseas, or USA made ? Thanks for your input, Ed

    Re: 63 shifter question

    My '60 and my bride's '63 track car (see avatar), both, have reproduction shifters. They are excellent.

    The shifter in my '60 was installed nearly 30 years ago. It's been an "appliance".... plug it in and forget about it.

    When she's felt generous, I've gotten to track my bride's car. I actually prefer the feel of the repro shifter in her car over the feel of the Hurst shifter in my track car. It's smooth and precise.

    No complaints.

      Ed, I've had one in my 63 convert. for 20 years and no problems. Well, one problem, I can't remember where it came from.

          Re: 63 shifter question

          Ed;
          I had to purchase a part for my shifter. It was made in the USA (Michigan). I only had to shorten the pin that engages the arms a small amount to get it to work.

          The shiftier assemblies were rebuilt used one but the arms and rods were new. They (Vette Products) also owned the manufacturing facility next door to them. This information came from the sales person.

          I can't vouch for the complete sifter assemblies but they informative and were willing to sell me just the part I required, not the completed assembly.

          Link is for the Borg Warner transmission.
