1960 rear sway bar

I have a quick dumb question on the mounting of the rear sway bar of a 1960. The bottom of the sway bar is held in place under the middle of the leaf springs with a pair of brackets on each side that sandwich the bushing around the ends of the sway bar. These brackets offset the bushing relative to their mounting holes. Should the offset be inward (ie move the bushing more toward the middle of the car) or outward?

Terry - I think it is to make sure the sway bar doesn't come out of the bushing as the car bounces around side to side.

The rear bar on my 60 is exactly like Mark's picture. That's how it was when I bought it 44 years ago.
