I have a 1970 L46 SB 350/350 that I am in the process of restoring. I began rebuilding the front end this weekend and noticed that the car has "F41" type coil springs. The yellow sticker "3832518" is clearly visible, and the original cotter pins seem to suggest that these are the springs that came with the car. I checked the O.D. of the sway bar and it is definitely NOT the 15/16" bar that the F41 would have had. I know that 1970 did not have an F41 option so I'm looking for anyone that can help explain exactly what I have. Also, I am planning to have the car judged and am curious as to what the feedback would be if I left the springs as is with the original decals. There does not seem to be anything that suggests this spring was a component of a SB 350 that I can find.

Re: L46 with 3832518 (F41) Coil Springs
The 3823518 spring is listed in the parts catalog as 63-71 w/ SP. PERF.SUSP. In the 77 catalog it is listed as $18.10 list. Could have been changed to the 518 spring or could have been delivered that way according to the parts catalog. Corvettes that are 50 years old are subject to a lot of changes. Determining how the 70 came from the factory could be documented by a tank sticker or using the NCRS service to see if there are records on your Corvette.

The particular part number tags on your springs are typical of those used on later SERVICE springs. I'd say these springs were added somewhere "along the way".In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
