On a '67 small block, did all the factory fan shrouds have the small rectangular cutout and hole for the U-nut to accept the fan shroud ring (extender) that the A/C cars received? I can't imagine the General would have had two different fan shrouds...one with and one without the hole. The AIM (C60, B25) shows the dimensions for the cutout...is that something that was individually done at St. Louis for the A/C only cars?

Re: '67 Fan Shroud A/C
This is my opinion....
Reference the 1967 AIM:
Page C60 B2.5 indicates the basic shroud is the "Production Unit" used on cars without AC. The other listed parts are then attached to that basic unit using the listed dimensions/parts/modifications etc.
Subassemblies, such as the differential, engine etc. don't have individual parts identified in the AIM because (as I understand it) they were assembled elsewhere (another plant) and were delivered that way to St Louis. Then the engines underwent final assy of the brackets etc. which are called out in the AIM
Using that criteria, I would say the AC shrouds were modified off line "in house" at St Louis on an as needed basis by St Louis craftsmen.

Thanks Stephen for your opinion. Kinda what I was thinking. I'm trying to get a definitive opinion from (hopefully) someone who was there or has "inside" information. John Hinckley you out there??Leif
