    66 Coupe Transmission

I've got a 66 coupe with a problem I've not run into. The transmission is a muncie 4 speed and it shifts very well through all the forward gears. When I attempt to get into reverse, I seem to be locked out. It works intermittently, but usually I have to double clutch, inch forward an inch or two, and generally takes a few minutes to finally get it into reverse. I'm thinking maybe the Hurst shifter is out of whack or something along those lines. Any advice?

Sounds like a readjustment of the shifter linkage is in order..... check for excessive wear of the holes in the arms and wear on the rods which could cause slight misalignment.

I would also suspect the rod adjustments. Is this something that just started, or been this way since the shifter was installed?

i had an issue with my 67. It would shift fine through the forward gears but grind with reverse. What fixed mine was readjusting the clutch linkage.
