M&H vs Lectric Limited battery cables for '66 small block

In terms of the potential for deducts, is there any difference between the battery cables sold my M&H vs Lectric Limited? I'm about to place an order for some other items from M&H, and I want to know if I should go ahead and buy the battery cables at the same time. I know some people recommend Lectric Limited battery cables, but I'd rather not place a separate order with them if the M&H cables are cosmetically equivalent.

    Thanks,

    Gary

    Gary,

Lectric Limited has a reputation of errors in wiring harnesses. Battery cables are good but so are M & H.

    I recommend M&H every time.

      JR,

I'm going with M&H for a harness, because I've heard exactly your point several times before about their hardnesses vs LL.

But I'll use whoseever cables are cosmetically better.

One should ALWAYS ring out a new harness to the GM schematic or original harness to be sure points A & B are at the places they need to be. My method has been to restore the original harnesses. A lot more work but piece of mind.

Burn up harness or worse yet fire is avoided.

          Gene,

That sounds wise about matching up the repro to the original.

Do you have any first hand knowledge about the LL vs M&H battery cables?

            Gary,

i have LL battery cables on my 66. I took a small judging hit at the chapter meet. The molded ring edges are square. I chamfered the top inner edges, next to the post. A friend said it was supposed to be the top outer edges. I got no comments or deduct at the regional meet.

Thanks Don. I've read the archives about the squared off edges on the LL cables. Could you have chamfered the top outer edges?

I'm still wondering if the M&H cables have the same issue with the non-rounded edges.

                Hey Guys
Recently I installed a dash harness for a 1965 without backup lamps. The vendor is M&H. The issue: the harness is used with AC and without. I suggested to Ken at M&H that a label on the two for AC would save time. One goes to the fan speed switch and the other to the heater box. ken advised that LL doesn't label. The issue is wiring with plastic connectors hanging. Why not two harness one with AC and without. They do it for backup lamps.

                  Jerry,

That sounds like the lame excuse about it being unfair to be punished for something that my brother also did the day before and he didn't get punished for doing it.

THE ORIGINAL HARNESS FOR 65 BACK UP LIGHTS IS DIFFERENT FROM THE STD WITHOUT. It shouldn’t have provisions for both std and b/u option.

But to answer Gary as my letric limit battery cables are 8 -18 years old and are squared off edges. They all look the same. So i assume no update to the design.

Gary, seem to recall the hole on original battery cable lead end being off center. Don’t trust my memory to be definitive.

                      Gene,

Thanks. I'm going to get the M&H cables and see if they are any better cosmetically.
