Hole to screw the hazzard button in---??

I just noticed this as I was completing my interior reassembly. Am I missing a small "push in" THREADED part, or am I tearing my column apart tomorrow after I order the entire signal cam assembly-------------Again, I never noticed this until tonight.

I have a pre-9000 car with the long hazards switch button, I have a feeling the prior owner snapped something off.

Please advise so I can get this ordered for Saturday delivery if need be. Ugggggg !

    Thanks members.

    Frank,

It looks to me that the chrome end of the button has been snapped off.
Use a small flat blade screwdriver and see if you can unscrew the slotted ens that you can see. Replacement then becomes very easy....
If not, you'll have to dig in down to the the turn signal switch.

      Hello Don,
I didn't think of that !----The knucklehead who abused this car prior to my getting it made alot of bad mistakes. That would be extremely lucky. I'm on it now !!---I'll let you know & thanks.

        Don,
I tried moving this out with a small screwdriver ; no luck. It looks as though the actual threaded section of the switch was broken when someone broke it. I'm guessing I have to take the darn column apart again, unless someone else has noticed something that I didn't see.

Here's a pic of the turn signal switch where the hazard button threads into, and as far as I know, early or late doesn't matter for the TS switch. I'm also including a shot of my original button, yes it is considered late style (final ass'y date of 4May67).
A closer inspection of you TS location gives me the idea that your button might be only MIA. Check with a round toothpick to see if the center has a hole for the button threaded end. If so, try either putting a new button in or using needle nose pliers, try pulling it out, mine extends out past the column housing about 0.125" when not pushed in to activate.

            Don,
I looked a 3rd time & tried again with both a pic & a screwdriver to see if anything would move to no avail. I'm certain now that mine was broken off probably due to the fact that the early ones before 9000 were a good 1" long. That's probably why they switched to the shorter ones like yours.

I will take this apart this weekend & let you see what I find once it's apart. Talk soon.
