Re: 1957 Heater delete plate Clutch heads screws
dan: when i bought our airbox, which dick robinson had done a frame on in the mid 80's and a full frame off about 2000, i noticed the clutch-heads were facing the cockpit(between insulation and cockpit side of firewall)with their nuts facing the radiator. the judging manual stated the clutch heads should face the radiator. i then did a good bit of research, observing UNRESTORED heater delete 57's, some of which were 579D. all the photos indicated the clutch head fastener was inserted from the engine bay, thru the heater block off plate and that their nuts were between the cockpit side of firewall and the firewall insulation. so i went to the trouble of partially removing the firewall insulation to get to the nuts, reversed the clutch head and nuts and put it back together. our air box has been thru all its NCRS judging save the final duntov at las vegas . none of the 57 judges have questioned the orientation of the clutch head fasteners. regards,mike- Top
