    1953 Corvettes accounted for

    I know this has been done many times before, but I thought I would add the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System
    data for all known 1953 Corvettes to the mix.

    So what I have here is a list of all of the 1953 Corvettes (by last three digits of VIN) that I CANNOT find ANY reference of in NMVTIS, C1 Registry, Corvette Action Center 1953 Corvette Survey, or Google.

    This is a total of 59 missing 1953 Corvettes, which represents 19.67% of total production.

    042 108 165 219 272
    045 111 166 223 275
    047 131 167 224 277

    * 059 stolen in 1982
    ** 144 chassis found under another body

    Just talking, less than 30 minutes ago, to a former '53 owner. He trashed two in the 1970's. So there are two less to find

      Re: 1953 Corvettes accounted for

      Some recent updates have reduced the number of missing cars to 50. Here they are...

      020 081 146 172 248
      036 092 152 189 263
      037 095 161 212 264
      042 102 162 216 270
      045 104 164 218 271
      047 111 165 219 272
      054 131 166 223 275
      059* 133 167 224 287
      070 134 170 238 289
      078 144** 171 242 294
      * 059 stolen in 1982
      ** 144 chassis found under another body
      Makes the math easy 50/300x100 = 16.67% missing

      Also, for clarification, we acknowledge that cars 001 and 002 are known to be destroyed, so they are "accounted for".

          Ed,

          Supposedly, there was no #53 produced. #53 was skipped.

            Gary;

            I show E53F001053 as listed in both NMVTIS and Corvette Action Center 1953 Corvette Registry.

              Ed,

              The #53 being skipped statement was made at a presentation at the Michigan Chapter Regional last Thursday. There wasn't any document shown that supported the statement.

                #42 was listed for sale in the 6/85 issue of Vette Vues in Louisiana.
