Size of hole in the frame above tire tube rear bolt C2

My question is specifically for a 1963 but may be the same for all C2's.
I repaired some cracks at the rear cross-member and unintentionally welded up the hole above the bolt that retains the spare tire lid.

Could anyone tell me the size of hole in the frame above tire tube rear bolt C2?
By looking at the drawing, I suspect it may be oblong?


As you can see the AM lists the weld nut as part of the frame. Is this only a threaded hole in the frame or are there some type of nuts on the top side of the rear cross-member? I used to suspect the frame was drilled and tapped but after seeing this drawing I am wondering if I am correct.

It should have a nut there.

Thanks for posting the picture. It also gives me a visual on the type of nuts that were used.
My assumption is the nuts take 5/16 bolts.

My car takes 3/8" nc. bolts.
I don't know if 63's are different.

I found this information in the archives so I will repeat it here. My 5/16 bolts were incorrect.
The #122126 part number bolt is also in the 1966 AIM UPC 8, Sheet B1, Item #1. It is 3/8-16 x 7/8" Regular Hex, Grade 2, Cad or Zinc plated.

My 63 coupe is up on the lift right now with the spare tire tub removed in preparation for replacing the trailing arm bushings (and a bunch of other stuff).... If you need pictures/measurements let me know...

I'll apologize in advance if I didn't capture what you asked for in the PM, but I can run right back out to the garage for whatever else you may need. Its a bit hard to hold a machinst's scale and take pictures upside down so I chose this approach...

The left hand side of the picture is the front of the car and the distance from the front of the crossmember to the centerline of the spare tire tub bolt holes is 1-13/16" - (second and third picture). Both bolt holes measured the same so only one pic provided.

It's the same with the large round hole in the middle of that same crossmember (first picture)..

A bit confused on this request - did you want this hole measured that's on the same crossmember as the bolt holes ? Or, the bolt hole for the rearmost bolt that would hold the spare tire tub lock ?
