    AC fuel pump assembly question

The AC fuel pump is made up of the top section, bottom cover and middle section. I have an incorrectly configured top on my fuel pump, but middle section and bottom cover are correct. Question: If I find the correctly configured top section on another AC fuel pump (say off of a Chevy Passenger car of the same era) can I simply replace the top with it and have a correct and complete pump? Is the top unique in anyway to engine size, horsepower or anything else? Or, are the tops all configured the same?

I realize the part number stamped on the flange may not be correct on the passenger top, but that is okay with me as long as everything else is configured correctly.

    Pump is for a 1957, 283 with 245 hsp.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I can't think of a single reason your plan would not work.

I plan to do the opposite, I have the correct top and will be putting the "long screw" middle and bottom on it.

I don't either.....a lot of the AC pump pieces and parts got swapped around back in the day. 63 owners will swap to get non-"frog pad" sections on their cars and re-clocking was a common occurrence....

I've been mixing parts on the 4657 pumps when I rebuild them with no problems.

I was assuming it was not to get the pump functional but to return the pump to the stock configuration.
I liked the PDF from AC about clocking. Nice find.
