As previously pointed out, the photo isn't high quality enough to adequately comment on the VIN tag.

The V and numbers look good, but I can't decide if the Chevrolet fonts are correct. The C,R and L appear different. Example is on the L, look how long the lower leg is. Bottom of R appears more wide open, C curls more on top...… Tag looks acceptable to me, but posting the whole vin# might help insure that you have the original tag. In the past cars with the same vin numbers have been identified on the Corvette Forum. If another car with your vin tag appears, the fonts on your tag might work against you.

So far so good but the final say depends on using some paint stripper and posting another photo. Reproduction tags have some variations in "Chevrolet" lettering.

But for my 55 survey, being taken for update of the Technical Information and Judging Guide, please tell me the car number (last three VIN digits), differential code, and date code on the rear springs. You can send me a PM if you are hesitant to broadcast the car number.

The differential code is stamped on the passenger side of the differential facing forward. It will start with two letters, MW or AE, followed by 3 or 4 numbers indicating the month and day of assembly. This is not the casting date. Under the rear springs on the bottom leaf there is a part number and date code. The date info is a Julian date so don't worry about figuring it out just pass on what you find please.
