    1954 Wiper Issue....

Got the entire car pretty much buttoned up now, just chasing details.

    The wiper details:

    1) wiper motor restored cosmetically and mechanically and tests perfect off car to vacuum from my 69 C10 carb at high idle.. moves fully side to side at the speed I have seen these things go... (not fast but steady)

    2) wiper transmissions rotate smoothly and tension is good on both sides, and we routed wires as per diagrams on NCRS.org.

    3) wiper switch operates wiper motor perfectly when it is not mounted on transmission plate on firewall.

    The problem.....

When motor is mounted to firewall and everything is connected the switch causes wipers to move one direction and stop. When I turn wiper switch back to off position wipers move back other direction and stop.

I'm sure it is something simple we are missing.. Everything works great separately but issue shows up when everything is connected.

    Love my test wipers?

I don't know the answer but your test wipers may beat the popsicle sticks I was recommended.

Meanwhile I am struggling with my 55s electric wipers.

If you're certain your vacuum is strong enough then I would suspect either the tension or set up on the cables is causing the problem. It's been a while since I installed the wipers but I do recall that I got some incorrect information somewhere. Make sure the cables from the transmission to the motor cross over only on the passenger side
(in an X pattern if you know what I mean)
. The driver side cables run straight from the transmission to the motor without crossing over. There is a crude drawing in the 53-55 Assembly manual.

      Good luck.
