What could cause the needle on the speedometer to "wiggle" when driving? A bad cable?

Re: 57 speedometer needle
It can be a dry cable. It can also be that internal bushing lubrication in the speedometer head itself has dried out. I have found it is more often the latter. But I would start with the cable since it is much easier and cheaper to service.- Top

Re: 57 speedometer needle
Thanks. We just bought a reconditioned speedometer. Our needle was broken. It was impossible to find just the needle. Is it safe to assume that they would have lubed the bushing?- Top

Reconditioned is a very inexact term. I would ask the seller.- Top
