    How are the inside of the 1963 fibreglass headlight buckets painted (or not)

    If it wasn't for the steel attached to the interior of the 1963 headlight buckets they wouldn't need paint.
    I am guessing the steel brackets were painted and installed/riveted into the buckets. I have no idea how the pivoting ends might have been painted. The steel headlight mounting plate (mounting bezels) is black without over-spray.
    Anyone give me some guidance?
    Thanks
    Rick

    For what its worth - the backs of my original buckets before nose repairs, assembly and paint.
    The car had been repainted before - so how "factory" this picture is, is up for conjecture.

      With overspray.

        Totally agree with Loren as the buckets were installed when the car body was painted. That would mean the brackets and back (could) have overspray but there was no effort to paint them body color. There was no reason. GM did not spend a lot of time wasted to make the Corvette look pretty on the backside or underside either!

        The above picture proves this point as the fiberglass has overspray and the brackets were obviously attached to the fiberglass after the overspray was applied to the fiberglass door. That ain't factory as the poster admits the front end of his 63 was repaired.

          Ditto for Loren and Joe. I looked for pictures from restoring my buckets but can't find any. Just pictures of the metal pods. Best I can recall there was essentially no paint on the inside.

            Photo of inside headlight bucket on my 63. At least one repaint.

              Everyone;
              I want to thank everybody for their input.

              Don's pictures outlined much or what I expected and was talked about.

              Reaping;
              No paint on the inside of the buckets except what might be call over-spray.
              Brackets were painted black before the installation/riveting into the buckets.
              Makes sense and that's the way I plan on doing it. Well as close as I can.

              Don's picture also has a great picture of the late 63 bezel attachment clips.
