    Brake caliper bracket finish

On a 67 with standard brakes, what is the correct finish for the caliper mounting bracket?

    Thanks in advance.

After cleaning up the brackets during restoration, my 67 brackets had a faint "gold chromate" finish under the bolt areas... definitely not a bright gold finish like master cyl caps.......

          Stephen------

The chromate overplate on these brackets was quite subtle and not very durable, at all. So, what you found is exactly as it should be. The primary finish is zinc or cadmium. So, when the chromate is gone, what is left is just the zinc or cadmium.

            Stephen,

As Joe points out -the yellow chromate plating over the clear zinc was very thin so typically all exposed areas would wear down very quickly exposing the clear zinc or silver finish beneath. The second printing of the Colored 1967 Seventh Edition Judging Manual just came out and the Caliper bracket finish was changed to "Plated Finish" only so either seems acceptable for judging.
