I noticed on my dads 67 427/390 dip stick under the handle loop there was what looks like a rubber seal that half of it is missing. Also after sitting all winter it leaked about a pint of fluid from the speedo cable area. would the missing seal at the tube cause any problems? Two can it be repaired somehow, and three if not repairable are any passenger car powerglide dip sticks the same?

The 1967 427 Powerglide dipstick, GM #3905447, was unique to Corvettes. GM never offered any repair parts (e.g. seal) for the dipstick. It was SERVICED as an assembly. I don't know if it's possible to repair the dipstick's seal. I doubt that the leak from the speedo area has anything to do with the seal on the dipstick. However, there is also a seal on the dipstick tube. That seal is an o-ring seal and is replaceable. It was last available under GM #6255641.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 67 powerglide dip stick
Thanks Joe. I remember the O ring on the bottom of the tube doing assembly of the car. I wasn't sure of the seal on the top was causing any sort of pressure or lack of pressure causing it to leak at the speedo area.- Top
