    leaf blower for dust

I, like others have used a leaf blower for touchless drying after washing Corvette. But how bout using it to blow off light coating of pollen or dust? OK or would this sand blast finish? By the way there's no intake filter on at least most all leaf blowers?

In my part of the country, I don't think this would work and may just move the dust around and create micro scratches in the paint. We have a good bit of humidity here and that can cause dust and pollen to cling to the car. It might work in a desert area though.. don't know.

I'll use compressed air sometimes; that's filtered air.

But usually if the car is just a bit dusty, I'll use a California Duster.

If more dust/pollen/bugs/etc. but not bad enough for a hose, I'll dry wash using Meguiar's Final Inspection or 303's equivalent.

This means I don't need to take a hose to a car more than once a quarter if not driven during inclement weather.

I often don't drive mine in pollen season as it gets everywhere, but as Mark notes the California Duster works well.

I won't go anywhere near my cars with a leaf blower. JMHO

Yes, I've also used the California Duster for years. Anybody use the Armor All "wipes"? Guess they're like the Mequiar's product mentioned.

Not even for drying car after washing, Brian? Would seem to be less chance of scratching than with chamois or microfiber drying towel, but what say you?

I buy microfiber towels from autogeek.net

They are far better than anything I've ever seen locally.

I've tried a blower once or twice but honestly I usually forget to use it, and it's a PITA to lift it above the car trying to blow it off.

California Duster for me....but be sure to use the authentic one if you choose this method.
                  Imitators abound...

You need to lubricate the surface to prevent scratches, Meguiar’s detail spray and a microfiber towel is the only way I’d touch my cars. But if the dust is heavy time for soap and water. A good lubricating automotive soap. I feel for the guys with black cars as they always look dusty.

I've heard that the gas powered units may have some oil in exhaust, another thing to watch (electric no)

Never used one, but I remember seeing leaf blower-like devices purpose built for drying cars for sale on-line.

Those may work for drying. My guess is compressed air is easier and faster for blowing off dust, debris.

Does anybody really know if using detailer on paint rather than washing with water scratches paint? I'm talking about base, clear coat paint. Has anybody taken before and after "detailing spray" magnified photos of car's paint/
                              Thanks
