    1965 Ignition Switch

    Sirs:
What are my choices if I needed a new ignition switch??
Could I use, or modify a '66/67?? Would I need a new lock cylinder?

    John,

The ignition switch for '65 was one year only. As was the switch for '66 and '67. So each year was unique. The GM # for the '65 switch is 1116660. You can find them as NOS examples. One will probably cost you $150 +/-.

        Re: 1965 Ignition Switch

John - While the '65 ignition switch, p/n 1116660, is for 1965; it's important to note that the ignition lock cylinder p/n 3869215 is
for the 1965 & so the 1965 p/n 3869215 ignition lock cylinder will not work in either the 1966 p/n 1111673 ignition switch or the
1967 p/n 1116686 ignition switch & as you might guess the 1966 ignition lock cylinder, p/n 7031272 & the 1967 ignition lock cylinder,
p/n7033216 will not work in the 1965 ignition switch. Also, the 1965 & 1966 ignition lock cylinders use the GM/Briggs & Stratton
B10 keys, wile the 1967 ignition lock cylinder uses the "A" letter code keys & by design the 1965-1966 B10 key will not go into the 1967
"A" letter code key ignition lock cylinder & visa-versa. Who says "working on old cars isn't FUN. Pete

Little known secret, the ‘65 Cadallic uses the same ignition switch as well as door locks as ‘65 Corvette.
