    Courtesy light switch

The courtesy lights on my 64 roadster will not shutoff. I found the driver side courtesy light switch needs to be adjusted out more (toward the door hinge). How is that done? I can see the switch nut and a 7/16 socket will fit it but there must be another nut on the hidden side. I cannot remember how it works. Any help is appreciated.

there is no nut on the back side of the switch. the metal in the door jamb is tapped . remove the switch and place a washer between the switch and the door jamb and hope the thickness of the flat washer is enough to close the switch. mike

If the Barrel is seized the washer may help.

It's a self adjusting design. If the barrel is too loose you can try squeezing it a bit to recreate the friction fit.

The proper way to fix it is to remove the switch and tap the barrel all the way out toward the door. If it is a loose fit then deform the barrel slightly so it becomes a tight fit again. Re install and close the door. It will auto adjust to the correct position.

Richard and Russ, thanks for the excellent diagram and explanation on the adjustment procedure. Now the challenge will be to remove, adjust, and install the switch. I did it years ago but cannot remember the process. I think the dash was out of the car then, which would made access easier. Thanks for your help guys.
