    1967 435 tank sticker

I have the original tank sticker for a car that I used to own, but don't remember the VIN. I purchased the car 20 years ago (about the time I joined NCRS) as a 435HP red/white, convertible, side exhaust, L89 clone with real KH wheels. In reality it was born as a a Goodwood Green, 435 HP, black vinyl, white top, WSW, PB radio, tinted glass and side exhaust. The tank sticker came with the car and the following is the info: Ident #817323, Date received 06-02-67, Exp date of Prod 04-14-67, order #43472, Zone #40, Dealer 229, 427 is hand written on the sheet. I knew tht the car was a clone when I purchased it and I informed the buyer when I sold it. He asked to see the Tank Sticker, and then said to burn it. I have kept it all these years and will give the document to the owner of the car, provided we can verify that it is the correct vehicle. I posted this to the Orphan page, only to find that I can't do that if I don't know the VIN. Any thoughts as to how I proceed? Tank Sticker for 1967 Corvette.pdf

    Gene:

I would contact our NCRS rep that heads up the Document Validation Service. With the tank sticker info you have, he should be able to provide the VIN..............but there may be a fee involved. I know this is not "right" since you are only trying to help the hobby , but it may be the way it is. Then again.........

If you cannot get the VIN this way, I can likely provide you with about 6-10 VIN Numbers, one of which will be correct. But not certain I have sufficient files and info to give you the exact VIN on the first try.

If you have the data from the Trim Tag, I can probably give you the exact VIN the first time.

Let me know if I need to help.

Sorry, the only thing I have on the car is the Tank Sticker. Wish I had thought to keep more info. If you can provide me with your thoughts on the VIN, it might help when I contact Tim Gilmore.
          Thanks,
          Gene

            Gene:

I will review my files and provide the best info I can. It will take a few days, as I have a lot going on right now. However, I will PM you with the possible VIN numbers.

NCRS can provide the exact VIN from the tank sticker and hopefully will do so.

Tim has provided me with the VIN #16428. Thanks to Tim and Larry for their responses. I will now be able to post the document to the Orphan page.

Tim's a class act and a gentleman, who happens to have some magnificent cars of his own as well.
