I'm in the process of restoring a 66 convertible and I have a part that got separated from the rest during cleaning. It's a small bracket about 2" long and about 3/4" wide with the letters RVS stamped on it. If anyone knows what this is or where it goes, I'd certainly appreciate your help. I've (hopefully) attached two pics (front and back) but I'm not real computer savvy so we'll see how it goes. Thanks, Doug

Re: 66 Unknown Part
Thanks for the input, Bob. I kinda have my doubts that it's from the brake pedal area because the part appeared long before we tore the pedals out of the car. We have since restored the pedal area and the brake light switch is in and working perfectly. There is a slight possibility this part isn't from the Corvette. The car is being restored in a friend's shop and he's worked on cars out there for many years. It may have just gotten mixed up with my stuff on the bench or some such thing. We'll keep looking but so far nothing has been obviously connected to this. I've even gone through the Corvette Central and Paragon parts catalogs page by page looking for a picture of this and no luck. My buddy keeps mentioning the wiper area but that's all back together and there didn't seem to be a place for it. I sure hope it's not from there. The thought of tearing all that back out doesn't appeal to me at all.
Thanks, again.

Re: 66 Unknown Part
Yes it is a component of the brake pedal assembly for POWER brake cars. It is the striker that attaches to a hole on the pedal for repositioning the mounting area for the brake switch button to hit. It is NOT the same striker setup as on manual brake cars. It is LICS part # 28-51 see photo below, and it is shown in your '66 AIM in UPC J50 page A3. Photo of this area below that for another example. If you car doesn't have power brakes, then it is a part from someone else's project. If you do have power brakes, then this striker piece is installed if your brake lights work! Thanks for the input, Bob.
