I am not sure how well you will be able to see it with the radio not tuned to a sterio station, but the U79 has a small orange dot in the upper right of the radio dial. The U79 second unit is on the transmission hump forward of the radio on the passenger side of the car. You will almost have to lay on the passenger side floor to see it. I would think that U78 page in the AIM would show you where it is located, but it has been quite a while since I looked at that page.

It is not mounted to the dash. It is at the junction of the trans hump and the firewall. There should be some kind of holes or studs left from the mounting of that auxiliary unit (I just can't remember the proper name for it at the moment) I think it was mounted with studs, but it has been way too long for me to remember for sure.

If you can wait for the weekend after next (27/28) I will have a chance to look at one at the Indiana Chapter Meet.

Well, that's news to me. I always thought the U-79 adapter was mounted behind the center dash, just below the upper dash pad. I could never figure out why it was not located in the same location as the U-69 convector.

I'll see if I can get some pictures next weekend. My first Corvette was a 1969 with U69/79 and it is scheduled to be at the Indiana Chapter meet. I only had it for 6 weeks, but I remember (I think) looking for that equipment. I just can't remember why. As someone else says -- "we will see."

FWIW: The TIM&JG says that in the upper left of the dial face of the radio the word STEREO appears in block letters for 1969 and in script lettering for 1968, so my memory may be faulty. No surprise there. Again: "We will see"

If I can get to it. That may be an issue since dissembling the car is out of the question.

This picture is for a 68 U79 but I think 68 and 69 were all in the same location, even with C60. My Corvette America copy of the 68 AIM did not have a U79 page. Here is an original AIM 68 U79 and it looks pretty much the same as the 69 U79 Corvette America copy of the AIM (location wise). I think it
                was
located more like where Joe said it was.

                  Peter,
I was unable to see either of the under-dash components of the U69/79 or to get a photo of them. They are well hidden as the car is assembled. I can only suggest you rely on Dales photo as my memory is no longer reliable or verifiable.
