    3872792 fan
    5 blades
    5 rivets per blade
    17" dia.
    5.68" blade length

I'd say it's a GM #3872792 with an "8" stamped on it for some unknown reason.

      John,

If you place the fan on a flat surface the pitch should measure about 2 1/8" in height for each blade. I have studied Chevrolet and Corvette cooling fans for many years and the number 8 might be the middle digit of the manufacturers part number, in this case Hayes-Albion.

The 1969 Camaro Z28 models were issued 3 different 7 blade fans during production: GM #3937779 (early models, 2" pitch) and #3947772 (2 1/4" pitch) both manufactured by Scwitzer as well as GM # 3956684 (2 1/4" pitch) which was manufactured by Hayes-Albion and stamped "H" and "94". The 3956684 fan was also used on Chevrolet trucks. My GM TO VENDOR CONVERSION BOOK lists GM # 3956684 = Hayes-Albion # 159432. Other Hayes-Albion fan part numbers converted to GM part numbers in this book are 158632 (GM # 3947129), 156832 (GM # 3935332), 156732 (GM # 3935333), etc., an interesting observation to me. I do not have any GM to Vendor Conversion book for Passenger cars, if they even exist.

I believe that the number 8 on your fan might be the middle digit of the Hayes-Abion part number for the GM # 3872792 fan but that is just a theory.
