Can the engine and transmission be installed as a unit in a c2?

I am considering removing the engine and transmission in my 67 427 as a unit, with an engine tilter, has anyone done this before? I not sure it is possible, without removing the core support, which I do not want to do. Pictures would be great if anyone has done this.
    Thanks for any response, Bill

Would need to remove the core support.

SB Eng/PG trans can definitely be removed and re-installed as a unit without having to disturb the core support.

Did a 427 w 4spd connected. Left core support in place. Need a relatively high hoist so engine can be tilted to about 20 deg angle as it is hoisted out and over the core support. The leveler might make this step easier....Don't forget to place a plug on the trans output shaft to contain the fluid... and minimize the mess.....

Yes I plan on using a leveler or tilter, have done it many times by setting the trans back in the cross member, then dropping the engine and pushing trans forward. It gets kind of tough and I am not getting younger. Want to try with the engine and trans assembled out of the car

This is obvious I know, but don't forget to remove the oil from the transmission. As soon as the motor tips you will have a mess. They also sell plastic plugs for the output shaft. I recommend doing both, the draining the oil and then plugging the output shaft. Output yolks will sometimes work if you have a non-vented one laying around. I have seen it where the fluid pressure forces out the plug. No one wants a pint of stinky 90W on the garage floor or worse.
