    Body lift/drop with engine hoist

Is it reasonable/feasible to use an engine hoist/shop crane to lift my 1969 coupe body off of the frame? I presume that if it works to lift it will work to replace? The engine is already out, but I expect to drop the body back on the frame with the engine/suspension/gas tank all in place. Thanks and regards...joe\
OBTW: What does that bare body weigh (no seats/dash etc)?

        Joe,

I used the system shown in this link to lift the body of my 72 off a home made body dolly in order to place the body on a dolly made by this same company. It worked, but there wasn't complete control on the body during the exchange like there would have been using a two point lift. I would probably use this system again to remove a body that is destined for new paint, but I would not use this system to replace the body on the frame after the new paint. Considering what a paint job costs these days I think there's way too much danger of minor damage.

P.S. The dolly made by this company is first rate, well worth the money.
