    C2 convertible weatherstrip

I am adjusting the top frame on my 67 convertible in preparation for the installation of the top cloth. There is a 1/4 inch gap between the bottom of the weatherstrip on the rear edge of the side window and the top of the door. This gap is about a 1/2 inch wide.

    Is this vertical gap normal?

    Thank you,

    Randy

    Randy,

Not normal. The rear side window convertible frame weatherstrip has a small flap type extension at the bottom of it. When you close the door, the rear top of the door should slightly brush this small extension. Check the alignment of the top frame, especially with the side windows rolled all the way up. Keep in mind that the canvas top goes between the weatherstrips and the top frame. So, with the top on, the weather strips may need a little more adjustment. Check your door alignment also. Over time, readjustment may be needed.

The first thing to do when installing a top is adjust the windows so they line up properly with vent window and stop at the correct height then the bolts holding the frame to the car behind the doors have a lot of adjustment in them. Loosen the bolts and play with the frame until you have the gap adjusted correctly to the properly aligned windows.

Randy, If you have a hard top be sure to adjust the windows to the hard top first, then adjust the soft top to the window. The hard top can't move the soft top can.

The gap I am concerned about is in front of the flap.

          Thank you,
