    c1 oil pan gasket

The new 6th edition '61-'62 TIM & JG manual says "Dark gray gaskets may show engine color." I always thought original oil pan gaskets were cork. If you follow the "dark gray", that makes a replacement tricky. I found a Mr. Gasket #5885 with cellulose & nitrile, but the front seal is the thick one for later blocks. I could use the smaller seal, but just can't figure out on a Sunday what they meant in the new TIM.

At least for 1962, I believe they were cork. I'm not sure about 1961 and prior.

I've removed pans from c-1's that were never removed prior to me and they were cork. mike
