The new 6th edition '61-'62 TIM & JG manual says "Dark gray gaskets may show engine color." I always thought original oil pan gaskets were cork. If you follow the "dark gray", that makes a replacement tricky. I found a Mr. Gasket #5885 with cellulose & nitrile, but the front seal is the thick one for later blocks. I could use the smaller seal, but just can't figure out on a Sunday what they meant in the new TIM.
