On page 112 of the TIM/JG the following statement is made regarding carburetor mounting studs: " Stud tips may also be painted orange." Please comment on the following:
1) Does the above statement only apply to studs used in cast iron intakes? In other words, if there is orange paint found on the stud tips, it got there when the intake was painted orange.
2) The orange paint on the stud tips is an inspection mark and is found randomly on all engine models.
3) The orange paint on the stud tips was sometimes put there by the manufacturer of the studs.
4) None of the above.
