Proper Paint Finish On '67 Fender Louvers

Request your input on the proper finish of 1967 fender louvers. How dull should they be compared to the jambs, hood gutters and other dull areas? Should the tight areas at the top and bottom of the louvers be duller than the vertical slats? Are the slats duller than the bottom halves of the cars' doors on a factory paint job? I've got the JG.
If the door/body jambs, drip rails, hood margin and gutters and valances on a BC/CC paint job have all been appropriately dulled down, should I do ANYTHING with the louvers? Descriptions or close up pictures of correct cars, as well as the judges' approach to this detail appreciated.

No one wants to weigh in on this? I know what you're thinking. Rattle can matte clear, dulling spray, hair spray or leave it alone are the choices. I was hoping I could show some effort towards making the louvers look more factory (although as stated, I'm not certain what factory louver finish looked like) without destroying a beautiful paint job, and was looking for your ideas/thoughts/judging experiences. I suppose those ARE the only options. Is it possible to not get a total deduction for paint, if the other "dull" areas mentioned have been properly dealt with?

on original paint cars that I saw the louvers have thin paint with varying degrees of coverage on the hard to reach areas

          Rick,
You don't say if you are currently repainting your car or trying to retrofit an over restored car to score higher. Once a car has been over restored it is difficult to go back. There is a lot of variances in the paint judging between the different classes. what works in one class doesn't work in another. My recommendation would be to the National in Las Vegas, go to Tom Ames paint seminar, talk to Nick, the 67 team leader, get on as an OJ in the 67 exterior class, and see how they handle things. Then talk to the owners of the cars that score well, There are shop owners from around the country that are doing high scoring paint jobs, they will be there, talk to them also. You then should be able to gather enough information to make an informed decision on how to handle you paint situation.
