    70 Convertible Tack Strip Repair/Replace

The original tack strips on my 70 are in pretty nice shape. There are a few places, maybe an inch long or so, that are a little loose or have slightly delaminated.

My question is can I use windshield urethane to make the minor repairs and fill in the staple holes before installing a new top? Will the staples hold in the few places with the urethane?

It seems a shame to have to replace original tack strips for so few areas that are in need of a little TLC. When I removed the old replacement top the staples were holding just fine. It took quite a while to carefully remove the staples from al the tack strips.

The only tack strips that definitely will be replaced are the two short strips up by the header.

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

    Kind Regards,

    Bill
