    Borg Clock Mech.

I need help identifying the Borg clock mechanism shown in the attached pictures. I bought it at a flea market, and what caught my eye was that it was packed in a quartz conversion box marked for 63-82 model years. However, this appears to be a cost reduced redesign as there are a few parts that were brass and are now molded plastic. In particular, the two white plastic gears that mesh with the "hour wheel" & "minute wheel" are a larger tooth size than what was supplied for the C2 cars. Therefore this mechanism will not work with the previous, older design. For example, the newer plastic "motion wheel" that meshes with the mating gear has 30 teeth rather than the older brass gear's 36 teeth.
My thinking is that this redesign may have been used either:
    1. On C3 Corvette models.
    2. On other car makes/models and not Corvette.

It's been quite a a few years since I took the quartz movement out of my 63 and installed an original mechanism. But I believe the original C 2 units were all brass and the C 3 units had some plastic gears. I think they are interchangeable and will function the same.

Unfortunately the two mechanisms are not the same in a most important way; the gear that meshes with the "hour wheel" and "minute wheel" are a different tooth size (larger teeth on the plastic gears). So, even though the plastic redesign of the mechanism will fit the C2 clock mounting, it will not accept the C2's brass hour and minute gear wheels.

The movement you show in your picture is for a C-3 only. Just for your information a C-2 Borg movement does have one plastic gear. Black plastic.
