Hi.Can someone tell me approximately how far the weather-strip wraps around and goes down the side of the hood? I saw an original that was around 5 inches but have read about 12?

It may have varied because I believe this weatherstrip may have been reduced in length by assembly line workers. The original weatherstrip on my 1969 extends about 14" on either side.

By the way, the original weatherstrip was, prior to any shortening, a total of 65" in length.

I know this has nothing to do with the length, but maybe it is because I am a little anal, but the original w/s including door w/s and early over the counter w/s is 16" of an inch thicker than later w/s that was offered thru GM and the aftermarket. I don't think anyone of our judges is either is judging thickness and the majority may not even be aware. This is just a silly FYI.
