I noticed that the second edition of the '67 owners manual mentions "the reset knob located to the RIGHT of the steering column." Since I'm certain that many of you have known about this for years, is the consensus that it was simply a typo? It got me to thinking (dangerous, I know
) about how locating the knob on the right actually seems to make a lot of sense for several reasons. 1) Most people are right handed, and it would be easier/safer to reset if it were on the right. ( Most of them are so hard to reset, that admit it, you have to reach across yourself and use your right hand.) 2) The fitting for the cable comes out of the dash angled towards the passenger side of the car. ( at least on a '67) After the cable leaves there, it can be routed through the hole in the cross member as usual, and then down to the right side with a relatively gentle bend. This is in contrast to the reverse direction horseshoe bend shown in the AIM required to get it over to the hole near the hood release which puts the cable in a serious bind. Anyhow, I'm preaching to the choir. You old hands already know all of this. I guess my questions are: 1) again, is the owners manual considered to be an error? 2) what were they thinking when they decided to locate the knob over to the left of the column? 3) Is the fitting on the back of the dash angled towards the passenger side on ALL C2's? Thanks.
