Re: Restoration of Teak Steering Wheel
Several years ago I had an original teak wheel that needed help. I took it to a furniture restorer 2 miles up the street and he did a super job. It is just wood and doesn't need a Corvette specialist to fix it.- Top

Re: Restoration of Teak Steering Wheel
Peter: Doug Graves does an excellent job on teak wheel restoration. Had him restore one for me two years ago and it is just beautiful. Although he lives in Canada, 95% of his work comes from the US. He advertises in the Driveline and his number is 519-752-0780 email:douglas.graves@sympatico.ca1963 Corvette: Flight Judging Award (Top Flight) at 2023 Ontario NCRS Regional Meet (Regional) at 09-14-2023

Re: Restoration of Teak Steering Wheel
Last teak wheel I had for a Corvette long gone I gave the wheel to a kitchen cabinet company. The steering wheel came back beautiful. Got it done for nothing as I was a commercial builder then.- Top

Re: Restoration of Teak Steering Wheel
That is interesting, I contacted him some time back about doing a wheel and he told me he was not going to do any more.
I restored one, carefully stripped the remaining finish, bleached the wood to get the skin oils and dirt out, stained it, and used a polyurethane finish to seal it.Dick Whittington- Top

Re: Restoration of Teak Steering Wheel
I think that the information about Eric Freeman not doing wheels anymore is not quite accurate. He seems to only do wholesale and I think that Virginia Vettes is the only source. I just bought one of Eric's 16 inch wheels from VV and it is beautiful. If my information is not correct please let me know.- Top

Re: Restoration of Teak Steering Wheel
I had my '65 Teak wheel restored by Doug Graves, he lives in Brantford Ontario (the home of Wayne Gretzky). He done
a fantastic job, reasonable price and quick turnaround. His work is impeccable, makes Freeman wheels look 2nd class.
You can reach him at 519 752 0780 His business is called "Teak Master". Good luck.- Top
