Hi all,
I was informed that my fuel guage was reading off by 1/4 tank by a mechanic usihng a gauge tester. I ordered a new on, replaced it yesterday and tried it out. I noticed it was jumping around when it turned on the car. I measured between the positive gauge terminal and the gauge housing I read 12 ohms ( this is with the green wire still connected to the fuel gauge terminal). Figured it was not shorted so it seemed to be installed ok in the housing. Went out and filled the tank, the needle shot above the full level and now even with the key turned off the gauge needle does not fall past empty. I stays above full with the car off.
Does this indicate there was a short between the terminal/s and the housing? Should there be an open between the terminal Does this indicate the fuel sender is now bad? Any adviceis greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Scott
