Couple questions on 78 Pace car

Just bought a 23K mile 78 Pace car. It has no breather element and appears to take a very thin one and about 2 inch height. Any clue as to who sells these? #2...THe car has a power antenna and the motor runs when the radio is turned on and off, but the antenna does not move. DOes this sound like a fixable problem? Thank you in advance.

Breather element. Do you mean air filter element? Same as any other '78 corvette AFAIK. AC Delco A348c

The breather element is the vent filter and clip inside the air cleaner that the vent tube attaches to from the valve cover. Corvette Central or Corvette America carries it. The air cleaner is as noted above A348C.

There is a plastic cable that runs up and down as the motor runs. Once it snaps, then the motor still runs but the mast no longer goes up and down.

So yes quite fixable but does require some knowledge and technique. Michael Kappel, former Pace Car owner, has repaired a number of these and on the Corvette Forum, is the power antenna go to guy. Drop him a note and see what he can do. Mike Kappel <yorkymom4@hotmail.com>
