    Damaged/Rusted C3 VIN Tag

If some of a VIN tag is missing on a C3 due to rust damage and there is a state issued replacement tag installed, are there any judging issues? The original tag is still on the pillar but want to understand how to proceed to allow the car to be judged. Thanks for your guidance.

    William,
The tag won't rust. Other rust issues are the issue!

The value of the car will take a huge hit with a replacement vin. Pm me and I'll try to assist with a solution. Tom

Rusty VIN tags on C-3 cars is fairly common. You are well advised to leave the original tag on the car. As far as I know there is not a fool proof replacement VIN. As stated the state issued VIN will depreciate the value of the car.

You need to check the Judging Reference Manual but I believe NCRS recognizes state issued VIN tags.

I'm not the judging expert but are there two different issues?

            - VIN is checked to identify the car and confirm its legal owner. For this purpose, CDCIF is not relevant.

            - VIN tag is judged for CDCIF purposes like any other part.

            Is this correct?
