    Delco spark plug wires again

Need your help please Joe Lucia. Can you please check this Delco spark plug wire set know as Wire and Cable on the box.
    Gr. 2.239 #2987482.

Hoping they will fit properly on my '63 FI car with all the shielding on. The spark plug boots are black and straight. The distributor cap connectors are black and right angle. TVR Packard. One set I hae is dated 1976. The other set is 3rd quarter of '83. Same part number on each box.
Since my car was a trailer queen and built just for judging I have never had the distributor shield on. But once when running the engine at night I saw some pretty blue light on the wires. Nice effect I thought.
So now that I lost a lot of weight and my health is improved I plan on driving the car a little. Scary part is no where to drive it where I live as our roads are like the Indy 500 with potholes.
    Thanks very much, John

You're in luck. GM #2987482 is a SERVICE plug wire set applicable to 1963-65 Corvettes with FI. It was discontinued many years ago and replaced by GM #12043775 which is now discontinued. The original SERVICE wire set was GM #2983190. How it differs from the 2987482 I do not know.

John, I bought a '482' GM wire set several years ago, doesn't say LR (low resistance') on the wires, they have HUGE ohm resistance, 50K plus, wouldn't use them ever on my stock 64 FI ignition. Might use the boots and terminals and build a 440 Packard set. Just replaced my repro set of wires with copper core ones, BIG difference in how the car runs, won't run carbon core ever again.

Thanks very much Joe. Much appreciated.

Dan, I am not good enough to create a set of spark plug wires with terminals, etc. Prefer a factory made set. Happy that the '482 wires are correct. Copper wires would mess my AM radio that works perfect.

You can be sure of that. "I've been down that road". Also, if you have a tape deck installed in the car, it will affect that, too. I don't know if it would affect digital media players, or not.

Re: Delco spark plug wires again

I have a set of used spark plug wires from my May 83 Corvette. Kept them forever but the car is long gone as was stolen by the ex wife.
Free if anyone needs them here. Not for resale though. For his/her car. I think I know where they are.
My May '83 car was one of two C4's judged for the first time by NCRS at a Tom Barr and Pittsburgh chapter judging school.
The car was used big time in writing the first manual.
When I had it judged at a chapter show I got dinged for replacement spark plug wires.
That car had an original black oil filter with the silver and black PF25 decals. See the pic of it in the manual. A friend gave me some decals.
