    1971-2 LT-1 Rubber Oils Cap

Were the drivers side valve cover machined to accept a metal twist cap like the 1970 LT-1 or were the 71 and 72's unique and have only a round receiver hole?

Metal oil caps was 1970 thru very early 1971 production. Rubber oil caps were used from early 71 built small blocks thru all of 72 production.

My early 71, #2165, also has a round hole for the plug.

The rubber plug type oil filler cap could not be used on a valve cover designed for a twist-lock style oil filler cap.
