67 Turn Signal Switch Harness Routing

I an replacing the turn signal switch on my 67 coupe. No problems with removing the pins from the horseshoe connector or getting the wires through the column, etc. The problem is that I'm pretty sure that the harness that went with the old switch was not routed properly, so I need some guidance for routing the new one. The area of concern is after the harness exits the snap in metal protector on the bottom of the column until it is reconnected at the horsehoe connector. I'm thinking it should go up over the column mount and down the top side of the column . Recall that the 67 column is different from other C2's, utilizing the collapsable portion with the thin glued plastic cover. Also, I believe there is supposed to be some type of clip on the horseshoe connector to attach it to the column. No clip was present on the column or existing connector. A picture would be great. As always, your help/expertise is appreciated.

    Rick.

The harness conn. (clip to bracket ) is spec drawn AIM sheet UPC 12 B3.

Given that this is a connector to a fragile and most often messed with subset of components, observed installation varies.

    Hope the Factory spec helps.

Stephen. Thank you for the excellent post. Question. I have two "original" wiring harnesses and both have a red BMP sticker and I notice yours does as well. I've always thought this was correct until yesterday. A gentleman that restores mid-year columns that came highly recommended told me the original BPM stickers were white not red. Do you have any input on this? I question him but I'm far from an expert. It is my understanding this isn't judged but I want to know for my own peace of mind. Thank you.

            Kerry,
My RED sticker is original to the car. If you have 2 original wiring sets then I believe we can say RED is correct. Now could there possibly be 2 vendors that used differing colors? Of course. These switches were used across the GM carline.

The real thing you should look for beyond the sticker is the wire colors used for the flat cable. After market cables used a different color set. SHE-MAR is a producer of this switch.
Attached are photos of original and reproduction SHE-MAR wiring to show the differences.

The black plug is original. The brown plug is SHE-MAR.......

Stephen, I've attached two pics of the switches I have. The column with the switch installed is an early column. Note the red BPM label. The color of the wires look different from yours but it may be the pic. The other pic is of a repro and another original switch I own. Huge difference between the two. The red label on my switch disintegrated and has fallen off. Note the wire colors on both of my switches match. However both of my switches have brown connectors not black. Possibly what I think are originals are repros. If so they are old but I don't believe this is this case. The three other pics are from the vendor who is going to restore my column. They're self explanatory. Any help with this mystery will be appreciated. Thank you

I don't think "black" connectors are cast in stone. I just related what I found in my car and a repop switch. With the numbers of these switches produced across the GM car lines both of these scenarios can be correct. Obviously the connector was probably designed to wrap around the column on another GM product and Corvette adapted the connector to the car.
