    Highest-selling 1962 Corvette ever

Would you believe that this very car sold for $1,815,000?

I'd also believe it looks nothing like that any more.

Nope, because it wasn’t. Just won Sebring and Daytona and a bunch of other SCCA races in 62. Neither the guy who sold it in that condition nor the guy who bought it had any idea at the time. 1980. $3500. Too much for a car that looked like that, actually. Who knew?

Have nice memories of seeing the 62 all stripped of paint, funny looking holes all over it. Great find Mike !

I remember the adventure called "throwing the balancer" When you drove it from El Cajon to an early Southwest Chapter meet in Phoenix. Thanks
            again, Mike.

I remember riding in it to get it into the building for the 96 National Convention. The brakes were not heated up yet; and when Mike tried to stop, we went into the oncoming lane. I also hit my head on the back window when Mike took off from the stop light.

I remember first seeing the car at the Monterey Historic's in 1987. No one had a bigger smile on their face than Mike! I next saw the car a few years later during the 1989 National Convention on the second floor of the John Asuaga's Nugget Hotel & Casino in Sparks, Nevada, where it was displayed along with a 1962 Gulf Oil car owned by Rich Mason and a 1963 Z06 owned by Paul Reinhart.. The cars were transported up to the second floor via the elevator used to transport elephants for the house shows. Mike, along with Rich and Paul gave great presentations on their incredible cars. If I remember correctly, Mike drove his car up from the Los Angeles area.

Nice trip down memory lane Mike. I still remember it sitting under the cover in the barn. Good that you paid too much for it or it might have been lost forever.

                    Mike,
With all due respect, it might have been "Divine Intervention" that the car ended up with you.
It was great meeting and talking with you at LakeLand.
I just had the AFB on my 62 Almond Beige/Red 340 hp rebuilt and it runs GREAT.
                    Sincerely,
                    Bruce B
