    I'm virtually certain it's black phosphate.

    By the way, this support was discontinued in 1977 when it carried a GM list price of 43 cents.

                Revisiting this thread because I was able to take some pictures. This is original LS6 bracket. AIM says it is part number 3994043. See stamped part number.

                    Thanks for posting the photos. These are the most detailed I've seen yet. Do you know the thickness or gauge of the metal used to form the bracket?
