    Corvette Owner's Pin Survey - 2018 Update

Back in 2008 I did a survey of Corvette Owner's pins, and just yesterday got the answer to the one pending question from that thread.

Corvette Owner's Pins were available from 1956 through 1966.

There were two manufacturers of these pins.

The first pins for years 1956-1960 were stamped GBM 10K on the back. This is for Gordon B Miller Company.

The second pins for years 1961-1966 were stamped MI/5 (may be M 1/5) with 10KDP below it.

The last piece of information was for the 1961 year pins, which was posted yesterday.

    Ed,

My pin which is supposed to be for a 63 has M 15 and 10K below but it really is not legible enough to read under a magnifying glass.

Interesting subject. I have five of these pins. One came with my 62 when I bought it over 40 years ago and the other four I picked up over the years. One of the five is the early type (56 to 60) and the other four the later. My early pin is stamped "GBM & Co" with "10K" below and a third line "CINTI.O . Not sure what the third line means, could be Cincinnati Ohio. I don't think my pictures are good enough to read the back stamping.

I was just given pin and patch from 1962 VIN 2000 by the original owner of that car. I owned that car back in the late 70's and early 80's. It has the M1/5 and 10KDP on back. These pins are certainly little fellows.

                          EJ,

Congratulations, you have a tie tack from the Gordon B. Miller catalog, if it looks exactly like the posted photos, but no "owner" bar on the bottom side. Tie tacks are more rare than Owner's pins.

I know the 10k DP means 10 karat double plate (means gold plated on both sides). What does the M 1/5 mean? Did all of the owner pins have white enamel background?

I purchased a 1960 owner's pin from the original owner and the back is stamped M1/5
10KDP. He still had the original bill of sale proving he was the first owner. It was a late model 1960 car. Can I be 100% the pin is a 1960 pin, no, but the bill of sale and photos of him picking up the car from the dealership is enough proof for me. The pin has no background porcelain.
