Does anyone have a list of all who the out side suppliers for each part/ assembly used in the mid year production. Anther forum with a thread about the dimple in the hood surround and who made the panels brings this up. We know A.O. Smith made the bodies, and panels from Jan 64 on. But did they start at the beginning of 63 production? Did they have more the one mold for each panel?

The question is who was supplying the fiberglass body panels before AO Smith started doing it in '64?Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: supplier list of mid year parts
Well, the identical location of the dot on 63 and 64 cars suggests that both used the same toolingMike

Re: supplier list of mid year parts
John H has stated a couple of times over the years including in the thread running on the other side now that due to the expense of making the molds for the 63/67 surround, there was only one manufacturer, Molded Fiber Glass Company in Ohio. They supplied both plants.- Top

Re: supplier list of mid year parts
Back to the original question. Has anyone complied a list of suppliers?
Note that a Body is assembled, and really what we are after the suppliers of the individual pieces. Each part number would have had ONE mold, ONE tool.
The Corvette volume was very low, a single mold could make all the parts necessary, it just St Louis could not make all the bodies.
So for the glass, before GT General Tire took over a lot of the business, who was the company with the DS logo?- Top
