    Trim plate mistakes

I recently bought a 64 Red/Red car when I looked at it the first time I noticed the trim tag had 490BB instead of 490BA asked the owner he said it was a factory mistake. The car had been judged and it had received a top flight and a second flight the wrong trim plate was addressed in the judging sheets and also said it was an obvious factory mistake. My question is, did that happen often or was it a fairly rare occurrence? I know the Lady who owned the car from 1966- 2017 she also new the dealer who sold the car new and they said it was Red from the factory.
    Thanks

Who judged it and at what level? Do they have a record of the judging?

I was at Al Greening seminar a few months ago, and with his research anything is possible with trim tags, engine stamps, etc. human era is always possible. If your trim tag does not looked monkeyed with than its likely a mistake.

490BB is for a con with blue interior, 490BA is for a coupe with blue interior. These numbers & letters tell nothing about body color.
Also both of these will not have Electric Windows or Auto Trans
Look for 923AA code for the red body color. It may also be important t know serial number to exclude Dow-Smith stuff.

I went 12 years of school with Susie. She had it at the Indiana NCRS when I had my Corvette judged. Your Corvette came from the factory with that trim tag on it. Glad it got a good home. She had it a lot of years. Her husband is a street rod guy. If you need more info you can get in touch with me. Known the car for a long time.
