What a nice approachable guy Mr McKay was at the Lakeland meet. I asked him for help concerning a delete panel that fits where the washer mech goes? Rare was the ansawer so does anybody know someone who has on or does them please?

Re: 68 Delete washer plate.
I've never seen a 68 without a washer - but as is said, I've not seen them all.
Are you sure that you don't have a later 70s wiper motor? They did not have a washer on them, as it was moved to the bottom of the reservoir instead. I suspect it is not a 1968 motor.
A moment on Google suggests that they deleted the washer from the wiper motor starting in 1975.Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS

Re: 68 Delete washer plate.
Thank you Patrick for acknowledging my question. The picture is from an early 68 built 67 1st month. As mentioned I asked Mr Kevin McKay who said rare, if you look on pictures of the Sunday DX race cars you will see similar to my photo. So this question goes on?- Top

Re: 68 Delete washer plate.
Unless you have proof of the plate being there on Day 1, or know of some other history, I'd go with it being replaced.
No matter what, it's not "typical factory production" so to speak, so it's up to you to document where it came from.
The odds of it being swapped out after production vastly outweigh the odds of it being there since Day 1.
Is there still a part number / date sticker on it?Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS

Re: 68 Delete washer plate.
I may be wrong (memory is great but very short) but I seem to recall that when you purchased a new GM wiper motor, this plastic cover was on it to protect the inner plastic cam, etc.

I totally agree. I HIGHLY doubt that any 1968 Corvette was ever originally built without a windshield washer pump. Some may have been removed POST PRODUCTION for various race cars, etc. In fact, for some racing applications the whole windshield wiper system might have been removed.
As far as the "plate" goes, new windshield wiper motors for Corvettes were often supplied with a plastic plate that covered the washer pump area. This was removed and discarded when the wiper motor was installed. Is the plate in question plastic? In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 68 Delete washer plate.
It could be that early SERVICE versions of the wiper motors had a metal rather than plastic plate. Very vaguely, I kind of recall this.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 68 Delete washer plate.
Joe and others,
You are correct as I have seen several of the plate pictured below on replacement wiper motors. They were just there to protect the mechanism and were sold by Delco distributors when the Motors had failed.
